I'm having such a hard time with this right now, especially at night. It's when I feel closest to relapsing, so I've found myself snacking way too much for something to do and to keep my mind off it. I need to find a better way to cope.
You need to do this in the beggining of sobriety. 17 years clean. Thank You.
I know it stupid but I normally try and drink a glass of water to see if I’m actually hungry or just dehydrated. Not bullet proof but it makes me conscious if I’m just eating to eat because I’m thinking about drinking or if I need to eat.
I’m a big fan of things like chicken and Brussels sprouts or other high density food , that makes it near impossible to over eat bc it’s so filling. I also found in addition to lifting weights, just walking 2-5 miles in the evening before or after dinner and just do my mindless internet browsing or TikTok watching then, instead of in bed, really made a difference for me.

I've carried an extra 20-40 lbs for most of my life, and I've come to understand that my food addiction is very much rooted in the same ism. I am looking for things on the outside to make me feel better on the inside. As my sobriety and my connection to my higher power get deeper, I find myself binging less, and generally sticking to a healthy meal plan, and being able to enjoy cheat meals here and there without going overboard.
I've been lifting weights regularly since 17, so I am plenty athletic and healthy otherwise, it's my relationship with myself and food that has kept me fat.
There are a myriad of ways to get healthy and lose weight, and they all start with gwtting your eating under control.
Rising Star
Lifting weights has helped me more than a couple decades of being a runner.
I have been dooing a peloton class every day at home and I also lift weights three days of the week. I meal prep evrery Sunday and am really careful about what I eat as well.
