McKinsey & Company I’ve been offered a position in McKinsey that looks good but I’m now working for a restructuring consulting firm as a director and I’m not sure about the “work atmosphere” in McKinsey. I’ve been told a lot of stories that really do not attract me a lot to this company but the proposal is for more money and seems to be an interesting position.

Haven’t worked at another firm. But based on what I’ve read about/heard from ppl at other firms, we have the most honest, people development oriented, stick to the guidelines and transparent culture.
...on the traditional consulting track that is
I’ve been at McKinsey for 2 years and would absolutely recommend it. Yes, the hours can be long and the work can be stressful. But, the people are incredible, many studies are extremely interesting and have high impact, there’s great learning and development opportunities, and it will look great on your resume when you are ready to move on. I personally was worried about the work atmosphere before coming in, but don’t have any regrets about taking a job here. Definitely worth it in my opinion.
AP here. I might occasionally work a 10 hour day, but the extra hours come out of hide elsewhere. 12-16 per day is pretty common. I've definitely had extended stretches of worse, not many on the better side.
Outside looking in: if you’re young, take the offer. McKinsey on resume changes your life
MC 5 you are cute
The "far more money" piece suggests this isn't A&M / Alix RX shop that pay top wages. Assuming that this is FTI or a smaller restructuring firm, I would say yes, take it.
Smart guy... you should follow your gut instinct every single time. 😉
Wouldn’t come here! It’s all downhill from here on
Take it! Period.
What level are you coming in at?
So you are already at the firm? Technically you have ~2 years to make EM before the up or out kicks in. You will have to grind for a few EM gigs to get designated on time if you are coming in as senior.
Which firm are you coming from out of curiosity? Alix or A&M? How did you swing the offer?
It’s for implementation actually. I think it is the right fit for me. Bankruptcy and restructuring is good but I’m more problem solving, people oriented and needed to be in contact with the client more often. I’ve just applied in their website and followed the interview process. Everybody seemed very nice actually.
I’d be surprised if you worked more at McKinsey than in RX consulting. I’ve heard McK transformation is better WLB than RX consulting

If it's RTS, consider the history and whether they can make traction going forward...
Haha I don’t think RTS is a thing anymore . I think it’s all under Transformation and they’re not doing restructuring wirk
