I’ve been on family leave/bereavement/short term disability for 3 months now- which is the limit for job protection under FMLA. However I was granted an extra 3 weeks of short term disability leave beyond this and I don’t know if it’d be risky taking it vs coming back to work right as FMLA ends. I just got promoted and none of my metrics are targets for layoffs but I feel apprehensive because there have been layoffs at D, any advice would help appreciated

I'm at an MBB. going through something similar - late pregnancy loss, needed more time than the initial leave provided to me. It was ultimately just a paperwork process with my primary care doctor to do another short term disability claim (and extension) for my mental health condition. I had no prior diagnosis of depression/ anxiety until the loss.

Sending you a hug 💕 you’re super human

You can be laid off while on FMLA. I’d just take the time if you are eligible

Take the leave. In same boat if it helps but I know if I went back today I wouldn’t be 100%- my coach can advocate for me if I was on leave, not if I do a poor job

I applied for a job and received an offer from my client. 15k+ bump in salary, better benefits/remote work, and responsibilities will give me exposure to all areas of the organization (start up). The problem is that they’re looking to staff me as a Senior when I’m currently a Manager at DT. They said they’re flexible on title, but curious to hear how others have navigated similar situations. I would report directly to the controller and have 1-2 staff reporting to me...

Getting over heartbreak and having a full time job is torture lol. My boyfriend and I just broke up after almost a year of being together. It was such a beautiful relationship but ultimately he just didn’t love me. I love him so much. My mind knows that I deserve reciprocal love and I’m worthy, but I feel physically ill. My body hurts, my stomach is in knots, my head hurts. How is it that I have to mend a broken heart but also meet my billable hours lmao

How much stock do you put on benefits? I have two offers with stark differences in benefits. Job 1: role I want, but benefit sucks (2 weeks paternity leave, 20% coinsurance). Job 2: role is okay but higher level and great benefits (16 weeks paternity, 0% coinsurance, 5 more days of vacation). Total comp is the same though. I wonder if I should just focus on role but Job 2 is a large company, so I can move around after 2-3 years I’d expect. Thoughts?

it feels like every survey about working from home is (poorly) designed to answer the useless question "would you rather work from home or from the office." I submit that the set of people who prefers to have only one of those two options, always and forever, is the null set. which means it DOES NOT MATTER because the correct answer is always going to be "make both possible." you're welcome, HR departments everywhere.

Part of a BD now, thinking of going on my own as RIA. Costs would be about 50% less, which makes it seem like an obvious choice. Have a deep family friend relationship with current firm, though. I don’t want to burn a bridge, but am I crazy to be a bit upset that the relationship could keep me from doing what I think may be right? Really struggling with that part of the decision.
