Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

An 8‑month gap isn’t a dealbreaker. What matters is what you’ve done during that time. Have you been upskilling, freelancing, or volunteering shows initiative. Recruiters care more about momentum and relevance than a perfect timeline, at least in my opinion
Great advice. That 8 month gap can still be productive and spin a story in your favor.
Lie about freelance work. You're a copywriter, so you know how.
In this economy, business state… with rolling layoffs that have been happening for past 3 years, in & out of our industry, (Nestle, Microsoft, even pharma, Novo Nordisk), I’d think it’s far more common & understood if job seekers don’t land a new job for months. A year or more, even. Hope there’s grace & empathy for many struggling to get hired when there’s so much competition, limited opportunities. Especially since people are trying to make ends meet.
Agree, to either take classes (free) or freelance, or volunteer work, if it’s taking more than 6 months (when unemployment insurance typically runs out).
Just put 2024-2025 as your year of work without the months. Looks like you worked for the full year
