I am currently pursuing a position to be a 401k workplace planning consultant with Fidelity Investments. I would like to connect with someone who has gone through that training and early hiring process to make sure I have a solid understanding of the position. This is specifically for the Raleigh/Durham NC area if possible.

I don't think that's excessive. Especially if that's a precedent he set with his own vacations.
He’s just jealous😂. 2 weeks is totally reasonable and actually healthy since it takes a few days to unplug.
Toxic
Tbh I was shocked when he said that, given that my firm is fairly accommodating (at least compared to competitors) , so didnt expect that response
Definitely not excessive and you shouldn't have to explain what the time off is for...that's personal business and he's being extremely rude to indirectly set certain reasons for taking off long PTO.
2 weeks is reasonable . In fact, we’re required to take two weeks of continuous vacation every year.
He prolly was planning his vaycay around the same time
2 weeks is reasonable. We also have a mandatory block leave and are required to take 2 weeks of vacation days consecutively

I don't think it's excessive. Is it at a bad time of year in PE?
Im asking for the last 2 weeks of summer which have historically been the slowest weeks of the year with the exception of xmas-new years. Sure fire drills sometimes come up but should be manageable.
That's inappropriate and you don't need to share why you're taking off. You could be playing playstation for 2 weeks, it doesn't matter.
You have vacation for a reason. It is meant to be used to recharge YOUR batteries. If there are no significant deliverables take the vacation. Do a solid handover of all your open items and enjoy.
He needs to mind his own business.
When I worked at Accenture with 25 PTO days, my Sr. Manager told me that same thing, but it was my first year out of college. I went anyways, never planned on staying at Accenture long term. I went on a family trip to Italy. Do what makes you happy. At the end of the day, if you’re recharged and performing well he shouldn’t be bothered.
Most financially firms have policies in place that forces employees to take a minimum of two weeks of consecutive leave a year. There are many benefits to doing that, two being that it ensures that employees are refreshed and it also reduces fraud risk. The fact that this is an issue at all is the problem here.
Anchored in old thinking. Pre Covid it would have been fine. Now very fine. Doesn’t get to judge the reason unless it’s happing too often.
You have given significant notice you deserve it
It’s your vacation time and you’re entitled to use it however you want. In many places, as is my current situation, I am required to take a mandatory two week vacation where I’m only allowed to check email on my phone. Blocked from building access and remote login access for two weeks no exceptions. And from my understanding, that is common in the industry for AML purposes
Are you inS&T? I've never heard of forced vacations outside of that
