Tech will always be there. It will have it's ups and downs, but ultimately the industry has been growing with little to no falloff. You should be good.
Yeah I second this, just wait until the waters are a bit safer when you go and on the bright side for that risk their shares will hopefully be at a nice discount for you to get with your stock package
Depending on which area of finance/employer pivoting companies may not be necessary. I’m in a PE firm and I taught myself SQL then Python. Fast forward and I’m automating reporting and analytics by building internal tools. I pivoted into tech while in finance and it’s awesome. See if you can do similar work where you’re at.
Tech is still a really strong industry. Like many others, it's going through some downfalls in the moment but it's still one of the most promising industries especially considering that most of the world depends on technology for practically everything now.

Most industries are struggling right now, not just tech. It's the nature of a recession. I'd say stick with it. I'm sure the tide will turn soon enough and things will be back to normal.
What alternatives are u looking at? Staying at a bank?
I would think about the kind of tech you're interested in - some are still experiencing solid growth. I would overlook social media giants personally and look for other functional types of tech companies
It may not be the right time right now because many of the big tech companies are doing hiring freezes or lay offs, but I wouldn't get discouraged just wait a few months.
