I’ve gone through a performance cycle for a year that I was covering for an underperforming adjacent discipline for most of the year. It didn’t impact my compensation increase in anyway. I also caught myself saying that I’ll keep training this person until they improve. I realized now how dumb that is. Have you ever caught yourself filling in for an underperforming discipline or short staff? I’d love to hear about it especially if you navigated it better than I did.

My wife currently doesn't have any offer for Germany and might need to search for a job after reaching there. Is it worth? Need your suggestions please.

Serious question from a happy software engineer, what do you all love about your work/actually enjoy doing during working hours?

I'll start; I'm privileged enough to have been given the opportunity to work and learn deeply on Linux and Kubernetes, and I get to tinker and play with them all day. Problem solving with them is a "fun" part of my job.

Of course most things aren't roses and sunshine, but I'd love to hear the positive parts of what you are doing, or what you like to do at work.
