I've got a second interview today at Tesla for an IT supervisory role. Seems almost too good to be true of an offer. Only been at EY for 1.5 years and currently up for manager promotion this year.

Anyone wait out a manager promotion for "better" exit opportunities and then regret it? Is Tesla that great to work for? I've read glassdoor but always want more perspectives.

How much applications did u send in.?

Great brand name. But very unstable company. I’d say go for it though.

like

I can’t think of a hotter brand to get on your resume. Musk has his detractors but you can’t deny that Tesla products and technology are incredibly exciting. Best of luck OP!

like

Thank you! The brand and products is definitely a huge lure for me. Heard there's some employee car programs too... 😏

Go for it. My best friend works at Tesla - it’s intense but well worth it (big bucks to be made on the stock comp)

like

Worked at Tesla before. Don't get too excited, Tesla doesn't give you much work/life balance either.

like

60+ was the norm.

EDIT: That being said, that was two years ago. Also, you get a lot of experience very quickly (They call it Tesla Time)

UPDATE after 4 interviews: Was told that I had very positive feedback but the hiring for the role is being put on pause until Q1 2021. In which they said they would re engage me.

like

Wait until you get an offer. No point getting ahead of yourself on a second interview. Good luck

meh.. I heard from a friend who worked there that culture/wlb is not great. it could be better than consulting tho :) good luck op!!

like

If you don't value WBL that much (e.g., no kids), go for it! I interviewed there for another role and kind of glad I didn't get picked. The work sounds interesting but definitely seem very demanding.

I’ve been proposed an exit as Product Owner at a real company, not a consulting one. Staff seems nice, good culture, good salary (less than consulting but well), BUT I would have to move countries for that job and start a new life.

I’ve also been proposed a Manager position at a consulting company in my home city, with potential of bigger salary thanks to bonuses. Culture seems good... But I’m sure it’s gonna be a hell lot of work.

Which one would you take? Should I exit and never look back?
