If you’re a creative and have great work, and a good personality, you should be fine. I wouldn’t want to work for a place that wouldn’t hire me on my pants. I mean I’m not going to come in old sweatpants, but my job most people wear joggers all the time.
Wear yourself - only wear something that makes you feel badass but also is work appropriate. You need to be confident and the last thing you need is worrying about how you look.
Reminder that this is only for within this industry not the case client side
Really tight, LEATHER jeans...no pleather though.
Depends on the industry and company, but for agencies, I'd say jeans are 100% fine if you have a blazer and an overall sharp outfit. In general, you want your interview attire to be nice but consistent with company culture. If you come to a laid back agency with an austere suit, it might not hurt but it doesn't help.
Rag and bone
Yes
Clean and well groomed, jeans can look good and professional if paired with a nice shirt and nice jewelry and shoes. Look like you give a crap at least and put some effort in.
You need to dress and be yourself. No one should be judging too harshly on what jeans you are wearing. But in the same breath, I wouldn't recommend wearing ripped or faded jeans to an interview. You do want to take yourself seriously when your looking for a place to work. Best foot forward, but not a FAKE foot.
yes... but bring some scissors and as soon as you get past reception (and security) cut the jeans into assless chaps. gotta stick out somehow these days.
For a creative, absolutely. I'd make fun of someone who came in dress pants.
@EP1 so let them start with this issue that we can help with. They are trying to better themselves, lay off
If you’re dressing that casually, you better have the awards to justify it.
Why?☝️
@mcgarrybowen is that why I didn’t get a gig at your CHI office? (jk they needed a writer not an art dude. Tell Karen from recruiting/talent that she rocks)
Dress as yourself on a very good day, and make sure everything is clean and in good condition. You and your ideas should shine, not your clothes.
Client side maybe not. Agency yes (nice raw denim). I think a good rule of thumb is be client ready. Most agencies wear jeans to clients.
Source: dude who’s gotten jobs wearing jeans to interviews.
Yes 100%
@copywriter 2 - exactly my point. If you don’t know what to wear, you have bigger issues in life
Dark blue jeans or black should be fine.
Yes definitely
NO.
