I was affected by layoffs about a month ago and urgently looking for a good immigration lawyer. The lawyer should be experienced in handling this 60 day grace period situation and developing alternate strategies - such as change of status to B1/B2 or applying to jobs from India. There is a lot of noise and wrong information going in the market so looking for good recommendations.

Given I was recently part of layoffs, I’m wondering if going to another startup would be a risky move now. I do expect more layoffs through Q1 of next year across tech. Would a corporate or PE portfolio company be the safer/more stable choice? And yes more boring

Brand Strategy/Planning roles aren't typical in PR. So every new Account hire arrives with no experience working with a Strategist. I'm tired of explaining/showing my role adds necessary value. I love strategy, but I have an offer at another agency to move into Account as Group SVP. They want to "customize" the role for my experience, but I'm afraid it will just be on paper and people will expect me to know things I just won't. I can't afford to be fired. Thoughts? When hired as an athletic coach, does your position state “temporary?” Even if coached at the same school for several years.. It doesn’t make sense to me that coaches are year-to-year. Doesn’t help athletes. Since the CSEA got it approved that classified employees need to go through the same steps as certificated employees, regarding layoffs. LACOE wants to have coaches not be considered classified or certificated, just temporary. With no Union, no voice, no respect, no appreciation, no rights.

Got laid off today. Ironicly is I have been looking for a new job for over a year. I guess it's good that I no longer work in a toxic environment & no longer for a criminal. Heartburn from anxiety.

My last agency hired back a ton of the people who were laid off (thankfully I landed a new gig, would not go back to that place). They decided to bring back 10/19 that were laid off. Unfortunately, they are notorious for doing this on multiple occasions. What are your thoughts on hiring back those you let go? And to clarify as a group we were let go not furloughed.
