I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

no unless being asked specifically

No point bringing that up as it reduces the perception of your worth - unfortunately illogical but true
VP1 - in the the eyes of a prospective employer it definitely does. If you're unemployed you're basically seen as an under performer with no leverage. You have to have a really high demand, niche skillset for them to still take you in at that point.
I wouldn't offer the information. You have a weaker negotiating position then.
I wouldn't lie if it comes up, but I can't imagine it would naturally.

Yes, disclose after negotiating salary, before accepting the offer and background check. Lock in that number.

Agree with “no”
OP- which big4 firm? I thought they were done with the layoffs
I was laid off as well while I was in the middle of interviewing. I didn’t mention it unless I was specifically asked since I don’t want to lie (wasn’t specifically asked by anyone). Before final rounds of interviews, I told the recruiter since she’s going to eventually find out anyways when they do my background check and she said it wasn’t a big deal and that she totally understands that the current COVID climate is causing a lot of layoffs. No other questions were asked or assumptions were made about my lay off. So I wouldn’t bring it up to the hiring manager but might as well tell the recruiter/HR when you’re further into your interview process since they’ll be the first ones to find out anyways. No one is going to be judgemental about a lay off since everyone understands the current situation we are in. Hold your head up high and prove your worth to interviewers, wish you all the luck!!

Agree with D1. If they don’t ask, no need to tell. But if they ask “Why are you looking to leave B4?” You probably have to spill the beans. When you do, be completely honest. Why you were originally interviewing then you found out you were being laid off. No shame in being laid off. I have been in my career.
Why do you need to tell them you were laid off?
Just say honest things, that aren't that. I.e. "looking for a position where I can get more depth in industry" or "don't want to switch my whole team every few months"
Don't decrease your negotiating power or give them any negative perception if at all avoidable - you don't have to volunteer that information, so don't

I would disclose after the offer is extended, when you have to share the date. Before that, interview with confidence.
Thanks! I imagine the end date would come up during background check right? would they not care at that point?
Pro
They won’t care on the background check. Just be honest on dates when you complete application.

Which big 4?
Don’t mention at all.
If they really need you it probably won't matter. But they'll try to use that to scare you into a lower offer if you show them that card.
