Anyone familiar with the areas of McKinsey that do work on nonprofit/refugee work? What qualifications are needed? I’ve done pro bono related work at Deloitte, not sure how to do that full time.

Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

The additional driving miles are somewhere between 1x and 13x the risk of the entire flight. Whatever safety improvement you think you’re getting from going to IAD is completely swamped by the incremental risk of a traffic fatality.
They shut down the heli routes for the reason you mentioned. And controllers used additional separation methods such as visual and radar separation. Not just procedural separation. Saying routes get close isn’t really telling you much. There are routes that intersect all over the place. The trick is not having two aircraft there at the same time.
And if we are comparing pilot certificates I have a Commercial certificate with ASEL, AMEL, ASES, and Instrument Airplane ratings. And a Flight Instructor certificate with Airplane Single and Multiengine, and Instrument Airplane ratings. I also have a Repairman - Light Sport certificate.

There are far too many go arounds, close calls, narrow misses, etc. etc. at DCA. There is just way too much air traffic for that airport to handle. I don’t want to be the next statistic in the news. Airports like Philadelphia, LaGuardia, DCA, etc. that are cramped, congested, and on the edge of water with no room to expand, are exceedingly risky from an aviation safety standpoint.

EWR is very safe and doesn’t have a million intersecting runways and taxiways like LGA, DCA, etc. It’s a large airport and not cramped like the rest I mentioned.
I suppose you’ll be giving up driving as well then
Yeah I think it’s pretty absurd to have a risk tolerance that low, but it’s the OP’s call in the end
Saw that as well, had to replay the number of flights per day, thought I misheard. 800 a day, and the limited separation on a single runway is insane.
Having had a landing called off at the last minute when I could already see the Jefferson Memorial out the window, you've got the right instinct there. Makes no sense to risk it when IAD is right there anyway.

Friend who is an air traffic controller told me that corridor - DCA, IAD, PHL, BWI - is very congested but DCA flights get preference which accounts for high late flight rates out of PHL.
Shorter lines for me then
this is so crazy
I just had a go around at CLT. Wind blowing 200 at 4 kts. Severe clear. When we land safely, I’ll ask to speak to the manager and demand that the airport be shut down to keep the OP safe.
