Last month, Microsoft released Workplace Check-In for Teams, a feature employers can enable to show where you are working. Microsoft says it is not tracking you, but it has enabled your company to turn it on and track you. Rather than enforce the rules as written, I think this is going to result in a requests for a second home address field being added to HR systems. What are your concerns?

I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I feel like privacy is an illusion anyway. I hate that for the employees because it's unnecessary. If the WFH staff is getting their work done, securing it responsibly, and being productive I feel like it shouldn't matter. People who work in front office positions who come up with this stuff are either bored to bits because they have nobody to micromanage or they're just plain insufferable. Either way, bottom line, our rights to privacy have been on a thin line a long time ago
Location privacy should not be assumed when working. I am so tired of my coworkers disappearing during the day. Or calling into meetings on a poor cell phone connection while not viewing the slides on the screen. They are not productive- and everyone knows they are goofing off while getting paid. This ruins remote opportunities for the rest of us.
Progressive's vpn already tracks it so not a big deal. They said they set it up that way so if we call 911 or emergency services our phone system will know our location to get help.
Well if we are in the office there are no other phones but our computers. Our phones are on our computers all the time. There have been threats on offices before and the fastest way to dial out is just do it on the computer instead of scrambling for your cellphone which the cellphone doesn't have your exact location.
