Looking for some book recommendations :)
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

Layoffs are ongoing right now, heard both in HC and S&O. Right now they are targeting people on the bench for a while and people up for promotion that have always gotten 3's. After year end there will most likely be another round depending on final #s at year end. Best advice I can give is stay staffed and stay needed. This is a consulting wide thing though not just Deloitte. Many other firms had layoff rounds already.
Deloitte had a big year last year and got overaggresivecwith their targets. Although the year is good it hasn't met targets. And when your assets are people and only people, cost cutting starts with people. But this business goes in cycles, trimming the fat is a normal part of consulting cycles and D4 is correct in the up or out model.
I've also received a farewell email by a definite 1 performer citing that the layoffs were due to S&O slowdown and not performance based. D60 might be a troll but it's for sure happening
Double troll. Pretty sure they shut down your email access almost instantly. Don't want you emailing old clients/grabbing a bunch of files on your way out the door if you're bitter.
D64 I know a director that was included. Wasn't anywhere to go up for him. So more of a out or out model
Just got a farewell email from an S&O BA today as well...

Damn Deloitte has been hiring from B schools a lot. I am sure they didn't expect things to slow down.
following
EY1- I help out with B school recruiting and our targets for full time offers and intern offers haven't changed.........yet.
You would think. The mindset could be that fresh ambitious workers for 2 years min, are better than paying the higher salaried newly promoted manager who most likely will leave in a year based on historical attrition rates.
I'm clearly speculating but you are correct in all counts
Is it over?
Sorry d18. Office? Currently staffed?
D18- did it say to come into the office?
Is it just Consulting or even Advisory is seeing these layoffs? From what I see here, not many Advisory folks are getting these suspicious emails.
Can't fathom solid performers being laid off. Uncle D is not stupid to let go of people bringing in money. If you're meeting your utilization targets and are getting good ratings, more 2s than 3s there is no way you're being let go.
Might have to do with which service line these people are trying to go to
