Hi fishes, My interview with Microsoft for SE2 was scheduled and cancelled a day before. Neither I received any email regarding cancellation nor the recruiter informed me. Two days later I got an email saying Microsoft is freezing hiring for certain departments and the recruiter is ghosting me. Will I even get a chance to interview atleast?
McKinsey & Company McKinsey & Company I have my first rounds (2 cases) for a position at the risk practice. Will I be interviewed by consultants in the risk practice? I wonder if I can ask some risk practice specific questions at the end of the interviews. (Didn’t get the names of the interviewers yet so I cannot google)

It’s a great question. Because we want people who are naturally curious or naturally entrepreneurial (to start new ideas on their own.) It often helps us understand WHY you do the job you are asking us for, if it shows a persistent personality trait. (Like really caring about aesthetics or process or craft or something.)
And in a job where people wear many hats, it’s also good to see if we can bring their passions onboard. Maybe you have no 3D in your book but you have a side passion about it, we can help you develop that.
Or maybe you’re just a video game fanatic, well we might have a new client that you could add a ton of value to.
Or maybe you just have a passion that’s very different than everyone else in the office (like sports, we keep getting sports clients but have few sports enjoyers for some reason), and would add a new perspective.
Actually, thank you. I’m interviewing a candidate who my team likes but I’m on the fence about again today. (Second time bec our first got cut off) I want to ask her very specific questions about why this role and you laid this out well. She may hate the question, but I’d hate hiring someone who isn’t right
