@OP Big 4 typically get the most polished people out of college. They then train them to ask the same questions over and over to all of the clients. Even if they don’t know what they’re doing, they sound very intelligent doing it. Not saying no one at B4 knows what they’re doing, but just pointing out that this senior may not be as good as they appear
But the grass seems SO green...
They train the hell out of us? Haha i guess you must be forgetting all the trainings they cut?
They train the hell out of us. Work us hard too.
I went from B4 to mid tier. I also noticed that, in addition to much better training, guidance is just enforced a lot better in engagements. For better or worse, a senior manager or partner will blow your shit up with review notes at the end and make you fix it. That’s how you learn for next time. I thought that was scary as a senior but really missing that mindset now - that’s how you achieve quality and development. Once a year training doesn’t mean anything if no one remembers or cares to apply it on projects and gives a “we’ll do it next year” because they don’t want to look like incompetent asshats
I've had plenty of training here. Some ex big 4 kids here are behind at my level due to them never doing more than very specific tasks at big 4.
Which firm were you at before?
You can always go back to big 4. They are hiring tons right now
I was never in big 4. Never want those hours. Lol. My mid tier firm definitely wasn’t good at training though
Big 4 trainings will add up to a more polished manager. But senior? Nah.
