Left EY as a senior for a financial reporting role in industry and the promotion track is a little cloudy. Would I be able to go back to EY or another big 4 as a manager in advisory?

What do you wish you had known before becoming a manager?

I've been a government attorney for nearly three years now and have worked in the same office/division since I passed the bar. I've yet to receive a promotion other than two cost of living increases (in sum, a pay increase of 6k over 3 years). I know this is meager, but I'm mostly ok with it, I just want to see some recognition. On the other hand, it's hard for me to imagine negotiating because (given my inexperience), I don't feel I'd be able to do better anywhere else. Any advice?

In the background check application I listed my previous employers - Cognizant/Teksystems etc but my resume only had the client names I worked at . Does this pose a problem if Deloitte HR compares my resume to the background check form ? Also my title within cognizant might have been an associate but my resume mentions the designation for the client. Is this a reason for concern? Will they ask me to justify it ?

I was promised a promotion, then was told I wasn’t getting promoted, started applying to other places, fought for it and ended up getting promoted and a raise. I was just offered a job at another agency for $15k higher than the raise I just got. When did you know your firm wasn't right for you? I'm not sure if it's just the stress of being a new attorney with a family or if my job isn't the right fit. I work in civil litigation and am consistently below my billables. I can't stay late because my kids need me and I can't work on the weekends because I have to maintain my house and take care of my kids. I'm being constantly told to work harder, stay later, etc but it's not practical. Or am I not approaching this with the right mindset?
