Little mishap w dry cleaning at Charlotte Marriott. They gave me a 5k point bonus in addition reimbursing expenses to get clothes re-cleaned. Is this normal? Should I have asked for more?

Who said anything about a win? It was a question, peckerhead.

How little are we talking? When four points banjaxed my room's AC and did not fix it when I came back on Tuesday night, I tore into them - as long as you are in the right and have been inconvenienced due to their negligence, you are entitled to compensation. They gave me 5k Spg points which is like 20k Marriott points I guess.
Exercise caution, though. If you will be staying at the hotel week in week out, only use the points card when you really need to - think of it like the wolf crying foul. 5k Marriott points might not get you much, but if you're a regular at the hotel let it be, tho let them know you were unhappy and inconvenienced as a regular. You can let them know you'd prefer cash compensation instead of points if that's what you're after.

At least 15K points for messing dry cleaning!

With 5k points you can afford an eighth of a night at a residence inn in NYC. Congrats on your win

So many of those on here

@D4 - that was my concern. I see the same people week in/week out and didn't want to seem like one of those guys). They sent wine and tray of food up to my room, paid for everything I had to be re dry cleaned as well as my regular laundry to be wash and folded (which wasn't part of what they messed up). I just saw that they gave me 5k points (which we didn't even discuss). It seemed like bad taste to nickel and dime them for another 5-10k pts which doesn't really get me anywhere (I have 200k pts, what's another 10k). I just was wondering if people have gotten big ticket bonus points that I should look into getting. Doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks for the feedback.

Question: I have a client who started a restaurant. He leased the land and bought shipping containers where he spent money contracting out to turn them into bars. I’m having a tough time determining how to depreciate this! First thought was leasehold but he’s not making improvements to a structure...he owns the structure! But nonresidential real estate at 27.5 years doesn’t make sense either as it’s not a brick and mortar building. Curious on others thoughts! TIA
