Looking around for single family homes in our area and came across one that’s fairly cute. The one thing I’m worried about is if it’s bad to have a master bedroom in the basement? It does have windows, a nice bathroom, and a walk in closet, with 3 bedrooms and 2 baths upstairs. The house is very cute, but small, so it seems like some rearranging was done to move things around (another bedroom with a full bath is now a space for the dining room next to the kitchen). Any thoughts? First x buyer

I would also try and understand if it’s to code / permitted for the bedroom to be in the basement. There are generally rules about exit points in order to legally allow for that.

Definitely a negative for families. Parents like to be on the same floor as their young kids.

like

First floor fine, but basement absolutely not.

like

If you like it, then go for it. Don’t worry about what other people think if the house works for you, especially if it’s your primary residence.

like

It’s probably less expensive because of the basement primary bedroom. Same will happen when you want to sell. I wouldn’t be concerned about a lower resale price as long as you are paying less to start with.

Fine with me. Does it work foe you?

Thanks all
To clarify - the room has windows and is fairly light, despite being in the basement. The closet also has a window

It’s a risk in a fire situation. Those guidelines exist for a reason. Good luck with insurance if something happened.

Does the basement have a direct walkout outside? A basement isn’t usually classified as an actual living area unless it has access directly to the outside. It could be a rec room but what does the main floor look like?

Hello Folks!

During work from office days, a representative from third party vendor organization used to visit the Gurgaon office during the Investment Proof Declaration days to help folks with "rent agreements, PAN number and rent slips" (ahem!! ahem!! IYKYK) and we were able to claim tax deductions.

Is it still happening there? Also, does anyone have a contact for them?

We are thinking of moving to a different state.Should we rent this place ($2400/month) and with recent refinance my mortgage will be $1600/month(inclu pay all) or sell it to pull out equity for the new home in a different state? Due to a family situation we are looking to move to a different state. Normally we would sell our current home and buy a new home in our new location. However, with todays prices and interest, will it make more sense to rent out our current home and rent a home ourselves vs. selling and buying immediately when we move? We are moving from Vegas to Sacramento and we are not sure how long we would stay in the new area. Thoughts?

Please help! Do these fees look within normal range or are they too high? I am especially concerned about the title company fees!
