The way I see it and approach my interviews is that I have a decent job where I am if nothing comes through. Keep in mind you work for a great Big 4 firm and have confidence in that! If the job doesn’t happen, you still have a great job with smart people. Thinking about that helps me relax. I also see every interview as a practice opportunity too - every time you interview, you’ll get more confident in your answers and your approach. Remember, you’re interviewing them just as much as they are you. You got this!
Indeed pwc1 - exactly my thought process. I always tell myself even if I think the interview went well but I don’t progress, then the job was never for me…
I had a similar experience many years ago. Couple ideas for you.
1. Practice (mock interviews - again and again, increasing in difficulty until it gets absurd and the mock interviewer is acting badly and you are still cool). If you can handle that then you know that you can pretty much handle just about any industry interview. Did this with/for a family member last year. He crushed the big interview and got the job he really wanted.
2. Also, come up with a list of just about any interview question you can think of, find online, friends can conceive, etc and think about a good, solid answer for each and every one of them. You get asked a question, you go to your mental encyclopedia of solid answers and reply - without sounding insincere or rehearsed. This exercise will also help you improve your raw interviewing skills!
