Need some advice here. I am a fullstack developer with 5 yoe in Angular and Python. My aim is to crack FAANG companies. Now I got an offer from HSBC in a credit risk model monitoring role using Python. It is close to a data engineer role.
My question is that will it be a good idea to shift from development role to a model monitoring role if I want to move to FAANG in the future?Or does FAANG not prefer people who are not in core development roles?Amazon Microsoft Google Adobe PwC EY Citi Barclays JPMorgan Chase

But “San Fran” is very wrong.
It’s SF or San Francisco only ever.
It’s not so much a reference to NY, more just a Bay Area term. Eg, “I live in Oakland but work in The City.”
More fascinating facts in here:
I was 140 as a senior in SF. You might be in the right range, but on the low side of it.
I have 5 years ex in nyc and getting 110, I’m pushing for 125 def go for more!
Your within the range. Senior creative usually starts at like 90 and can go all the way up to 150 if you have lots of experience or if your agency doesnt have the ACD level.
Most seniors in big markets are at like 100 to 125ish
Sounds right. I’m at an SF company (remotely) and that’s how much I’m getting
Yeah a little low but in the ballpark. I’m at 130 and due for a raise
Seems low, but not crazy low.
Depends what agency you’re at but I’ve heard of Seniors making 165-170ish in SF
Way too high. I was a former data consultant in the big 4 that worked with a lot of adcomm clients comp data and that is not an accurate figure. 1st year big law lawyers are just making a bit above that in SF.
Sounds pretty good
It would never hurt to negotiate
With 8 years you can go higher. 150 is the upper limit I’ve seen not counting supervets that are happy being “seniors”.
That’s where I’m at in NYC. So, probably close but a tad low considering SF is somehow even more fucked than us in terms of housing and COL.
