I make 110k in a smaller market. I also made 90k as a senior art director in Chicago... so I'd say, yeah, you're slightly underpaid. Though, it's still plenty to live on in Chicago IMO, and if 90k is the worst thing to happen to you, you've had a pretty good Ad life so far.
Ugh you're 28. And with language like "this is the worst thing that's happened to me" you sound entitled. Work hard, take advantage of the opportunity and get real -- you're making just under $100 grand at a great agency with an amazing title and all before 30. Be thankful! Millennials.

Kids. If you are underpaid, quit complaining and do something about it. Do good work that proves your value and then demand to be paid a competitive rate. You are not guaranteed anything just because of a title or x years. The only person ensuring you are well paid is you.
ACDs here make $160 - $180k (NYC)

Sounds a bit like a humble brag ;). You're 28. Enjoy the title which I'm sure didn't come easy. It's not always black and white. Someone who's 38 with 10 more years of experience may have the same title but earn more. You'll get there. If you really feel the need make the jump to a new agency and get that bump
