Manager / Partner are supporting my step up role on current project but SA (newly promoted) has started assigning me all their tactical work on a workstream I don’t own/am not responsible for. I want to help and be a team player but this is also not really helping my career goals —- Is there any way for me to tell them to do their own stuff or do I need to keep doing their dirty work until I get promoted ? Long term project so team is unlikely to change for 5-6months

Agree w EY2. Talk to your manager, “I currently have a, b, and c on my plate. SA has asked me to help out with x, y, and z. Can you help me prioritize order of operations on these? Want to make sure I’m delivering what’s expected”.

like

The only way to get out is to train someone else to do and hand it over.. and if not possible then, I think you're stuck with it

like

Work from a different workstream? And your manager is okay with that? If someone else in a different workstream started taking up capacity in my team without me knowing, that would not fly with me.

like

You may want to check with your manager if it's expected that you're supposed to be helping them. Your manager may have volunteered you to assist without letting you know.

likehelpful

Tell them know and say you have too much on your own plate, ask then to redirect it to leadership if they need more hands

Just explain to the client that doing the work isn't part of your career goals so no one will do it. They'll understand

It’s the realist point though. If everyone is being transparent about the work, ie your mgr/partner is aware you’re getting it, I think you have to do it unless you actually have no bandwidth to do so.

I received an offer from IBM Bangalore. However I saw openings at my preferred location Kochi only after the interviews. I called the HR after getting their point of contact mail and I asked if it's possible to switch. They said I'm already tagged to a project and that they'll check from their end if it can be done.

Anyone knows the chances of location being changed after receiving the offer and getting tagged to a project?

I have not yet accepted the offer.

Hi! I started at a new company 2 months ago and while I’m really enjoying my job so far, I’m having a hard time gauging whether or not I’m doing a “good job.” My role seems to be always evolving, which is fine and I actually enjoy being a support to the greater marketing team, but I feel like I need better defined targets to make sure I’m meeting expectations. Also, when I ask my boss what they’d like to see, I don’t ever get a clear answer. (Cont’d in comments)

Just received 2 offers that I’m weighing, both in Advertising tech:
1. Smaller firm about to be acquired by a larger one, Product Marketing role (title would be Sr. PMM)
2. FAANG, Sales Account Manager role (similar to my current role)
I have 5-6 YOE and have been in an Account Management role for most of my career - is it worth making the switch to PMM at a smaller firm or sticking with what I know at a FAANG? Both would have relatively similar comp. Thanks in advance for your input!

I left a good impression on the CFO but would to see what else so can do when meeting with the team since it’ll be a 2.5 hour meet up. I’m really excited!

Had an interview for an associate position at Citi. Interviewee was based in London and I’m in NYC. The only interview time that worked was 6am. I was barely functioning and feel like I truly messed up in my answers because I couldn’t not think clearly. I have another with the head of the division next week again at 6am (pre determined before this interview). It was also hard because the division’s core work is private enough that there was not much prep I could do beforehand. Tips?

I had positions in private sector that allowed me to supplement having a degree with experience but not in public sector.
