Hi Folks,
Hope you are doing well, I need valuable suggestion on few of my queries.
I had joined KPMG(KGS) on April 2022, during the interview i have been told that i would be working on Java Backend Development as my background belongs to same technology and my interview was also happened on Java/Spring/Microservices; but they put me on Low-Code / No code Platform and its totally tool based work. I am frustrated with the current work as i didnt find anything productive to learn.Continued in com KPMG @

If you like M&S topics, would actually recommend going for it. They don’t meaningfully restrict you in any of the practices (M&S, Digital, etc.), really. You can still do any studies you want for the most part—you just need to do some portion of your studies in the practice
Pros: m&s BAs get special mentorship/coaching and perks (budget to attend certain types of conferences, retreats, etc.), can still largely get staffed on whatever you want
Cons: usually need to do like 30ish% of your studies, if I’m not mistaken, with the m&s practice (though these are usually the “sexiest” studies anyway such as GTM strategy and stuff, so it doesn’t matter)
Thanks M2! I dmed you for another follow up question
IMO, go generalist. You can still de-facto specialize by continuing to work in marketing / sales across industries, but you won’t be limited in exploring other functions.
Thanks! Are the interviews going to be different between the two tracks?
Do marketing & sales, they tend to have some of the most interesting studies. If you do generalist you're likely to get stuck on a lot of very boring org/ops/finance
They will suggest ones in your area most likely, but you can just look at the M&S staffing log and message the people staffing other ones around the country.
I guess another follow up question would be - what would the primary reason be for hiring someone from undergrad directly into specialty practice - is it that they don’t want to consider me for the general BA or that they are actually in need of someone in MS?
There’s no special reason for it. They just probably want more M&S BAs. Plenty of BAs from all schools recruit for specialties as well as generalist roles out of undergrad. They are likely offering you the option because they thought your background might be a good fit and thought you might be interested
