McKinsey folks that came in as experienced hires. How would you compare the final round interviews to the 1st rounds?

They’re the same for UG/MBA hires as external ones. I believe they’re 4 hours long with a 1 hour break between 3 1-hour interviews with partners/ senior partners. I would make sure to improve on your casing and PEI. Partners have more bandwidth to pressure test different areas of the case rather than in first rounds!

like

I had 2 straightforward case interviews first round (plus standard questions and my questions), then 2 rounds of partners spending 50 minutes each telling me why I should join and answering my questions (after 10 minutes token questions) - for integrative role in functional practice area, after getting approached by McK internal headhunter in the first place

Depends on the level and role. Where are you in the process?

AP entails ~10 Partner conversations
Partner entails ~20 Partner conversations

All Partner conversations are similar - conversational, mix of content and PEI, probing to understand where you fit in (work) and if you fit in (culture). With senior partners, case, if any, will be unstructured.

The very first case round (2 cases) is totally different - straightforward casing and nothing else really.

All the best. However, if you think you’re going to partner at PWC I’d just stick with that.

Anyway, hope the information was helpful.

Does anyone have tips for the structured interview process? I’ve done my research but am not getting past the first round. My credentials must be acceptable if I’m being invited to interview at all. Since post-interview feedback isn’t provided, I’m sort of grasping at straws here!

Should I even bother applying when there are more than 100 applications?

Made a career pivot to another agency. During the interview we talked about how it may start as initially a "step backwards" (pay/benefits) but has potential for more long term growth. First day was yesterday. Had no communication about when or where to show up, sat in an empty office for about half an hour before a couple people finally showed. No phone call or email. Sent an email to the founder, no response. I could easily get my old job back if wanted.

How many matters is typical for one associate to handle (BL lit)? I know it is group-specific, but just trying to get a general idea. I’m a 2nd year and I am the only associate staffed on about 30 cases-meaning I keep track of all deadlines, do all day to day assignments, keep on top of following up with client/OC, and all research/drafting. Partners handle deps/court but that is about it. Is this a normal case load to be responsible for as a jr? I being dramatic by thinking this is too much?

I prepared a presentation for an interview with a sales leader, it went well and I was offered a final interview with regional manager. The sales leader I interviewed with gave me a bunch of feedback, but said to find out information about tech stack, which I for some reason, didn’t consider. I come to find out that deep, hidden within the website of the hypothetical client, they use the service already. Do I roll into the final interview and play dumb or do i present and then come clean?

I am interviewing at a Production Studio and it’s going well. The majority of my experience is agency side. They mentioned base salary with commission, as they want to see growth in the next 3-5 years. There has been no talk of salary yet. What does a base salary for an EP with commission usually look like in this role? What should I be asking for? I don’t want to give up my current salary, but I think this job would be such a great fit for me. Advice?
