Hey guys, quick poll- red eye on Delta or an evening flight that lands at mid night on American? I have diamond status on Delta and can potentially get upgraded.

Depends if you have anything you're in a rush to get home to. Wife? Kids?

like

Make sure the red eye is upgrade eligible first...

I always try to get home earlier. Better for the family. Can you sleep on redeyes? I can but still it's a short night's sleep after a long week even if you sleep gate to gate, assuming a US transcontinental flight.

Nobody to get home to...been single forever lol . I am doing alt travel on Thursday night and will need to work on Friday before the weekend with friends. I guess the trade off I am weighing is if 2000 MQM worth going on 3 hours of sleep...

My travel could potentially ramp down for the remainder of the year , hence trying to maximize opportunities to earn status for 2017

PWC1 it's a west to east coast flight. Total flying time will be 6 hours with a 30 min transit time

With no reason to get home sooner, I'd go red eye and earn the points..plus you can use it as an excuse to do the bare minimum tomorrow

Also, American sucks. I would almost always choose Delta if the two were remotely comparable options.

If it's transcon it's probs delta one aka not upgrade eligible aka no bed for you aka sleep is more important than 2k MQM

@OP unless you're flying a longer route such as SEA-MIA or LAX-BOS, actual flying time east will be closer to 5-5.5 hours which, for me, doesn't make for a great workday Friday assuming it's been a tiring week. Going east takes 30-60 minutes less usually since you normally have tailwinds going that direction. But family or not, I'd rather sleep in my own bed than an airline seat - even a first/business class lie-flat.

Midnight flight is clutch done a similar flight sfo->alt several times. So much better than red eye

So if I ask manager to give me permanent wfh will they agree ?
