Monster just released a report that cites:
1) 43% of people are planning to job search in 2026
2) 40% of workers expect the job market to worsen in 2026
3) 52% expect nationwide layoffs to increase
4) Nearly two-thirds of workers are turning to extra income streams

The study makes it seem like the sky is falling. I’d like some help finding something positive about the job market for 2026. What insights do you have?

One morning after a night out, I woke up in a stupor and believed it to be Saturday when it was actually Friday.. Only later in the weekend did I realize that I had completely missed work Friday, didn’t log in or talk to anybody.

When I came back to work on Monday and began to assess damage, my manager / team acted like nothing had happened and my team lead was OOO so they didn’t notice. No meetings were scheduled but expected to be fired/screwed, will always worship that Manager and team

I got a layoff notice this past Monday. I’m trying to not let it ruin the holiday spirit, but it’s hard to be cheerful with unemployment looming at the start of the year. Anyone else going through this too?

So someone I know asked HR about a boot policy. When he found out that there wasn’t one, but his boss said there was (who gave the guys $ for boots and the claimed it on his expense reimbursements as something else) the boss got mad at him for askingHR (and in trouble for the expense reimbursements) and then 2 days later laid off my friend. There appears to be no notice of bad performance and this person always was the first person on the job site ready to work. Thoughts?

A friend was told their firm will cut ties EOY if certain things don’t improve. Friend had planned to quit in the next year anyway (to start their own business), so there is no real incentive to bend over backwards. Friend’s goal is to keep the income for a little longer, but to minimize conflict / headaches. What’s the best move here? Wait until EOY and take the severance? Give 6 / 9 / 12 months’ notice now? Is there such a thing as too much notice? Could too much notice backfire?

Anyone have any idea when the hiring freeze might end within AWS ProServ? I’m currently at Amazon and have a TS clearance, PMP & CSM. I come from a Big4 consulting firm with a background in Enterprise Performance. I’ll be honest and say I’m not feeling very safe in my current role with the ongoing layoffs. I am trying to write a stock letter to send to parents everyday that their child does not come to virtual learning sessions. I have been told by administration that even though I have spoken to parents and know why students are not coming to zoom classes, that we still need to contact them everytime they dont come. I’m currently working in insurance customer service at an agency. I work in the mortgage department assisting w mortgage changes , payments etc. I’ve been thinking about becoming a claims adjuster most likely for property damage . Is it worth it ???
