Disclaimer: not from California, just did some googling. …It seems like you have to sign up and test through the California Prenatal Screening Program for it to be covered. I have no clue what that entails. There is also an exception for out-of-state health plans so if your company is not based in CA that might be the issue. If it makes you feel better, an insurance issue and lost email had Natera bill me a few thousand dollars for my NIPT so that sucked a lot. I do not recommend Natera to anyone.
LabCorp charged me $1420 for their genetic screening and NIPT together, so that actually sounds pretty reasonable. I’m in NYC - I didn’t try calling or appealing it though.
Cali covers nipt in full. Most likely naterea billing and ur hospital billing messed up
Yes, I don’t think any insurance covers that. I’m in NYC and paid $~4-5 with HDHP. You could probably call their billing and negotiate a lower out of pocket bill

I’ve paid around the same amount in CA
Natera is a constant scam - there’s a million lawsuits about it.
Call and ask for the self pay option and they’ll lower the bill to 50% of what your bill is or 250.
Yea they still charge your insurance - hence the scam.
The test is real and provides good results but their billing is completely bonkers (and illegal…)
