Not sure if you just put him down in the crib or if you rock him to sleep. Getting a particular ritual and sticking to it to signal sleep helps. When it gets out of hand, walking around in a stroller, or just taking a drive helped us..
For our babies, when it's near nap time we will swaddle them and lay them down in a public area where we all are, like the corner of a couch. Then once they start looking groggy, we'll transition them to the crib. It helps them not go from high activity to nap time easier.
Good luck!
I would highly recommend giving swaddling a try. “Swaddleme” swaddles are awesome! We also try to create a calm period before nap time. Basically going into their room with it darkened and quiet. This has been much more effective that going from general high energy areas straight to nap time. We also have 4 kids so our house can be highly energetic so this may not apply as much to you.
Some baby also just hate naps. My first hated naps. I’d have to rock him for 20 minutes just for him to get a 30 minute nap. My second baby sleeps like a champ.
Our boy had reflux so we would put him in a rocker on an incline which seemed to help. We also used a sound machine to help define the sleep environment
