You are an amazing friend! Sending thoughts, prayers and blessings to your friend.
Hugs to you, my bff has breast cancer too.
Call and check in a lot. The meal gift cards are a great idea. Does she use a house cleaner if not, see if you can help coordinate one.
My friend is really into crossword puzzles so we made a custom one about her, mostly funny memories.
This feed made me sad but also made me see hope in the world and in many ways is reminding me what truly is important, thank you for taking the time out to do this for your friend and also taking the time to write here to remind us of the daily struggle people go through and the importance of caring outside the daily grind.
Aww 🥹 thank you for saying that. Made me emotional. ❤️
Having just gone through all of that a year ago I can say that radiation is a total slog and exhausting. The process itself is fast, but going daily back and forth is a lot and it wipes you out. Imagine how you feel after a long hot day in the sun. Not everyone has burns/skin issues but I did. Loose clothing and some clean, but very moisturizing lotion is a must.
Staying hydrated is important and anything that can help take the load of everyday tasks will be helpful.
You are an awesome friend! Best of luck to your friend. She is a warrior!
Thank you! Sending strength to you and hope you are feeling stronger and healthier today. 🙌🏽
When I went through treatment someone gave me an adult coloring book. My brain was so fried from chemo/radiation I couldn’t think or be creative and this was just my speed
See if you can coordinate laundry service for your friend as well. It is a tiring endeavor when a person is at their best- your friend will appreciate it!
I went through this journey 2+ years ago. On top of the physical discomfort it’s mentally draining. The radiation itself is quick but it can take a while to get put in the right position and you feel a bit like a slab of meat. If you can, maybe something small that she can open each day after treatment to help her find some joy. A scented candle one day, pjs the next etc. From a purely practical standpoint, I highly recommend some soft, non wired bras that do up at the front (easier to get on and off as she’ll be sore) that she doesn’t mind getting messy from the steroid cream they’ll likely give her to put on. She can then happily burn them afterwards in celebration of being done! Best of luck to your friend - she’s got this!
I loved this one - it’s not pretty but it was super soft on my skin and so easy to get on and off.

Add a recording of your voice with a uplifting and heartfelt message about your journey together as friends ❤️
I have a friend also recently diagnosed and we live far apart. Have been wondering what sorts of things I can put together in a care package - this thread is so helpful ☺️
Check out a non profit #bettereveryday at bettereverydayweb.com. You can nominate your friend to receive a chemo care tote and you can provide support for resources. I’ve done this for a few friends who appreciated the care
I received a gift package of 5 or 6 pints of Jeni’s ice cream. I have since sent this as gifts to others as their flavors are so unique and the ice cream is so good. Go online and look them up!
OMG, Jeni for Mayor! I absolutely love Jeni‘s ice cream! 😊 Brown Butter Almond Brittle and Rainbow BFY are my faves …
I had a lumpectomy last year followed by a course of radiation.
A lot of comments here are confusing it with chemo but they’re not similar so just be mindful of that. They have different methods of delivery and side effects. You don’t want to send her chemo scarves for example!
While the side effects of radiation vary from person to person, everyone has some level of skin burning, and medical staff recommend applying calendula cream daily so she’ll probably already have that.
But another thing that you need which is surprisingly expensive and hard to find is a really nice fragrance free and non-toxic body wash.
Here’s a great one:

Anything you give her for topical application should be hypoallergenic and fragrance free.
You also have a lot of time to think. So a book that will help with recovery and mindset would be great. I found this one to be super positive and full of great actionable advice. Kind of changed how I see everything.

You’re an amazing friend for doing this. I’m sure she’ll appreciate it!
🙌🏽 so glad to hear. I hope hers will be that way too!
My mom just had a mastectomy and she got some really nice lotions as a gift and appreciated them. One was lavender scented which helps with sleep and relaxation. Maybe other sorts of products to pamper yourself, like great bath soaps, would be nice too.
I’m always a fan of snacks as well.
She’s doing well, thanks!
You are an amazing friend! Maybe a few books or a Blinkist subscription so she can have options. Wishing your friend health.
If you res arch cancer care packages, you will find loads of ideas. Anti nausea sweets and ginger biscuits are usually welcomed alongside the lotions etc.
All great suggestions. I got one of my friends a silk pillow case and a weighted lap blanket for the chemo treatments. She had mentioned the second item as something she wanted. Some nice slippers too.
I had a mastectomy (not lumpectomy) but the best gifts were snack boxes lol. I kept them in my room and ate them at night when I couldn’t sleep from pain
Also anyone with any favorite balms or lotions for the irritated skin, that would be super helpful!
I’ve had eczema for years and use Eucerin products, dermatologist recommended.
