My boss is moving to another area of the business for a promotion. If I apply for his old job, I think I have a good chance at getting the job, but how do I not make it awkward managing people who are my current peers? On a personal note, most like me, but 1 colleague in particular does not like me. Advice on how to handle that relationship if I end up getting this job? Is chasing promotion is a losing game? Is it better to get the experience I need for the exit instead of just killing myself doing everything the firm wants me to do so they can consider promoting me?

A report opened to me that they are having money problems and wants a raise. We are remote and they moved to a high CoL city. We gave an increase to help with retention 6mths ago. In my response, I helped mentor with best practices on how to ask for a raise professionally since I need to make a case to my Head on finances. But their performance has been avg and not seemingly worthy of another large raise within a short period of time. But how do I respond when they talk about personal finances?

Currently my base is 139K, SC2 commercial and the target promotion year is 2022. What % of base salary hike I can expect with exceptional ratings if I get promoted as planned? 👏

Mid level Electrical Engineer in the greater Baltimore, MD area making $115k base w/ $20k sign on bonus. No yearly bonus. I started this job in April of this year. 2-3 years experience. When I onboarded they told me to expect promotion to EE III in about a year. Performance reviews coming at the end of the this year and I’m wondering 1) if my salary is on par with what I should expect 2) how to approach conversations about raises and promotion with my supervisor. Hi! I just got an internship offer for beauty formulation for Amway! I was wondering if anyone had experience with this company before? I’m currently in the product formulation position for ~ $25/hour, paid housing, and additional benefits like dental and health care. Plus, they said I could get free/cheaper transportation if needed! 1) Put 10k into iBonds and $90k as downpyament and closing costs for a property (I’ll need to put in 20%, already talked to several mortgage agents)
2) Put $0 in ibonds and put all the $100k in the home investing (given it’s a little more of an expensive property, given some other factors - location, size, etc)
