My boss never asks how I'm doing – just if the case is done. Makes me wonder if I'm seen as a person or just a workhorse. Relatable, or am I in a super toxic firm?

I'm a pretty private person. I don't see a problem with this. But you need to do what is best for you. If you want someone to ask how you're doing and you expect them to care when you give an honest answer, then I'm thinking your current firm isn't a good fit.

They may just be awkward. I’m not great about asking my coworkers and support staff about how they are doing because I don’t want to seem like I’m prying and I’m focused on getting work done. I’m not much for small talk. I’m working on this because I know it’s not good, but maybe your boss is the same way.

Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

Hi fishes!

I am seeing too many post about awards like rising star, Kudos, etc. People keep telling there managers recommended them for these awards.
My manager doesn't interact much with us. I consider myself as some one who has worked hard for project and other intiatives. Should I ask my manager to consider me and if yes how should I initiate it.

A director in another unit wants to meet me to “continue a conversation we started last year”. He is referring to the time I had asked him if there were openings on his team. That was over a year ago. I am not too happy where I am right now ( I stayed where I was). I also don’t know if he really has an opportunity or if this is just some corporate circle jerk where my current director is trying to “smoke me out”. I don’t speak poorly of my team/work. How would you approach this conversation?

I’ll be asking my last job for a letter of recommendation but I’m not sure who to ask. My boss, who is lovely and would write an amazing LOR. Or my boss's boss who would put minimal effort in but it would have more weight.

Out of curiosity. How would a company view a potential candidate who has a period of unemployment to study for the CPA. I am considering to start studying for the exam but I know I would need to leave my employer in order to give 110%. I am contemplating the idea of at least passing one part while employed. Then leaving my employer to study FAR. I am considering to leave my current employer anyways, so it’s more of how my future employer would view that lapse.

What are your client follow-up/communication policies or practices? I’m hearing more and more that clients don’t like the long periods of time with little to no contact. From my perspective, since I bill for my time, unless I have an update or need something, I don’t initiate a call. Also, clients hold on to important info and don’t initiate a call cause they’re waiting for me to communicate with them.

My client wants both parties to list assets & liabilities as an exhibit to their prenup without values, but waive the right to know the actual valuation of those in the prenup itself. My initial thought is this is a terrible idea & would probably make the prenup easily voidable since a main requirement for a prenup is for both to understand the nature and value of the other’s assets. I will research in my jurisdiction to confirm, but has anyone ever heard of/done this? Thoughts?
