My dream is to work for BCG. I have been at Accenture for 3 years, and a level 9. How does one land an interview with no network at BCG?

You can lateral. Suggest you not limit yourself to BCG though. I think mckinsey is a better firm.

How come ?

OP it's fine to have a dream whatever the reasons. After all we are in America, land of dreams/where dreams comes true. Unfortunately this isn't and wouldn't be enough to cross the line even if you find your way to an interview. BCG is BCG today because of the people and their alignment towards BCG's mission.

More tactical approach:

1. Do some research and go deeper than the generic BCG has cooler cases and better client (Based on your reference a lot of means meet this criteria). Understand the minimum requirements that must be met (it's a competitive process) Leverage this platform and other resource to accomplish this.

2. Once you know you have the minimum requirements and have a Why that is compelling, start to network with folks from BCG and build a relationship. leverage school alums if applicable, else leverage LinkedIn or secondary connections.

3. Once you validate open items in step two (if you have gaps. then do what you got to for your fream), start to prep for the interview process, ask for references or referrals from relationships built and then apply.

Achieving a dream sometimes requires a lot and other things it falls on your lap, but I wouldn't advise waiting for luck to achieve your dream(your post suggests this). Goodluck and go make your dream come true.

1. Why is it your dream to work for BCG?
2. With no network, a top tier MBA gives you a better probability of getting an interview.
3. Getting a network also helps so your premise would no longer apply

I do want to get my MBA next year! I just wish there was a way for me to land an interview prior to that.

BCG has such cool work and amazing clients and cases. Ive been with ACN and all I’ve done is PM work for like implementation. I’m so sick of it

like

What’s your educational background?

Just find a referral and you should be good. Believe it or not I got an interview from BCG with a referral but I turned down after the screen because they were paying less 💰

OP - if you are looking for a referral DM me. I will ask my friend at BCG to refer. It’s no use asking these guys. They are just here to give their “advice”.

Just wondering why you prefer BCG over the likes of Bain and McKinsey? Is there a particular reason?

So it’s really weird how people keep asking for referrals on here. You realize we have a very detailed referral process that tests how well you know the applicant? I’d be extremely suspicious of anyone who offers referrals to randos

Big 4 referrals also specifically asks how you know the applicant and I usually have no problem saying “friend” as long as I can see that the person can talk about what they have done and satisfy me. I don’t mind helping someone and making some extra cash while doing so

smart

Thank you!!!

I've completed the final rounds for 2 companies: AWS as an L7 Principal PMT and another that's a Series-A funded startup in the HCM space. I expect offers from both: AWS around $400k TC ($250k base + $150k stock) and the startup should be around $300k TC ($250k base + 20% bonus). If comp wasn't the ONLY consideration, what would you do? The AWS role will be an IC role and more hands-on/technical. The startup will be a CPO role reporting to the CEO with a team of about 50 devs+PMs.

Resume gap: My position will be abruptly end in December (was informed this week). However, I won't be interview ready in the next 2 weeks. So how bad does a gap of 1-2 months appear to tech recruiters?

Common knowledge is it is a disadvantage to the candidate from a salary negotiation process. I'm also told hiring decisions at places like AWS & GCP take time and it might be a few months before an offer letter is received.

Currently I work for a mid-sized InsureTech that’s had 2 rounds of layoffs in the past 6 months. Salary is 100k, with no defined bonus. I have close to 4 years of PO experience. What could I be making at a bigger company? What types of companies are most stable right now?
