My Equity Grant is vesting over five years and I’m starting to think it’s just a clever way to keep me underpaid. The company uses the potential of the stock to justify a base salary that’s about 20% below market rate for a Director role. Every time I ask for a cash adjustment, they point to the millions I’ll have when we IPO, but I can’t pay for my kid’s college with potential wealth. Is it time for me to just start demanding a salary that actually reflects the current market?
