My wire-house team ($2M production across 2 advisors) is looking to expand. We want to hire a Wealth Management Associate ("WMA") and Client Service Associate ("CSA"). Pay for the WMA is $80k plus discretionary bonus. Pay for the CSA is $50k with discretionary bonus. WMA would be licensed (3-5 years experience) and CSA would be unlicensed with no experience necessary. Any general advice or advice on how to best find candidates would be appreciated.

Can you discuss offline?

If you work at a wire house now, don’t you have a HR department that do the screening of candidates for you, assuming you already got the green light from your branch mgr to hire?

Gotcha. I had success hiring internals in the past. They were mostly young kids that were looking for better opportunities within the firm and reached out to me.

This is exactly why I went independent. The fact that you all do $2mil and have to use words like HR and Branch Manager makes my stomach turn. No how no way. Been there done that.

I’m with you I’m close to 2mm myself and also the same issue where I need to hire through HR but don’t like there process. Indy is not for everyone , don’t believe I would have brought in well over100mm in assets this year if I was in an Indy. The brand matters...

Hi! I’m a young professional with less than 2 years experience, started a new job 1.5 months ago. I’m having quite some difficulties on balancing out my response time to tasks. While I act incredibly fast if not immediately with some, I sometimes take 1-2 weeks with couple of hours worthy ones. Sometimes I ignore, procrastinate or simply other more urgent things come up to increase the delay. Also I work with 3 managers in my team which doesn’t help with expectations nor guidance. Any tips pls?

Additional Posts in Growing the Team

I need some advice from advisors who have brought other “Junior” Advisors on. What is a fair split? Currently I have passed on my smaller clients to them, as well as providing consistent leads for them to call and meet with. The individual is working to build their own book of business, but up to now doesn’t have much production. They have only been in the business for about 2 years. I also provide an office and everything that comes with that, and admin assistance. Thanks in advance!

Team Financial Planning Specialist or no?

(Insurance, alts, ESG) I’ve been wondering if the Financial Planning role could also be a specialist in our client experience.
