Hi! I'm currently doing a part time remote Job for an American company as a graphic designer. I'm still in college and am planning to hold this job for atleast 2 years till my graduation. Reps, you have a client who you’ve had for less than a year. You’ve helped them secure a couple small jobs in that time span. They book a big job with an agency that isn’t a house account but certain producers and clients at that agency are noted as house accounts. The job came through a reco from one of those house account producers. Do you charge the full 25k commission, even though you didn’t really have a hand in the sale, and the client already had a strong relationship with the agency?

Do you have many LGBT friends and do you necessarily care if you do or don’t? I have one gay friend who I catch up with occasionally and I think my husband has two. I never really cared either way about it, however I feel like I’m at that point where you primarily make new friends through existing ones, and they are having children and making other “parent” friends. Between that and living in a SFH neighborhood in the suburbs, I’ve changed my viewpoint over the last few months.

For anyone who is burnt out and looking to leave big law and go to a midsize, do your research. I was one of those people and I can tell you the grass is NOT greener on the other side. It’s a myth. In retrospect, I should’ve stayed and set better boundaries and not have taken this 35% pay cut.

Senior attorneys at v100, how common is it for attorneys who start at small firms to lateral to biglaw? Have you worked with any? Conventional wisdom is always that if you don’t start there it’s hard to “trade up”. My coworker and I just did it to two different great v30 firms, and I’m wondering if it’s really that uncommon? Just out of curiosity. We’re not special counsel with special niche skills or anything, just associates. Pitfalls to beware? Positives?

If you were to lateral in the next month or so is it standard for the new firm to guarantee your full year end bonus given where we are in the year?

Random partner asked a litigation-related question to a partner I frequently work with (i’m a transactional associate). My partner cc’d me and said for me to briefly look. Asked the library. They got me a great case. Sent it back. Now the random partner is asking for more cases in another circuit.

I haven’t done caselaw research since 1L and this isn’t even my practice… wtf do I do (I am fully utilized in my normal work and have a few deals closing soon…)

Associates, do you want to be copied on emails to service providers/vendors (like CSC, CT, etc)? My thought is you get a billion emails everyday and don’t need more, but maybe I’m wrong?
