Need help!

I cancelled escrow within my contingency period and the escrow company is charging me 400 as a cancellation fee and holding my deposit. Ive cancelled escrow before and they never charge.
What can I do?

Ive filed a complaint against her in the DFAI but she won't back down.

Any advice will be appreciated, or if you know any real estate lawyers

Are they holding your escrow because you’re refusing to pay the $400 cancellation fee? I assume your contract has this fee in it so why don’t you just pay it and get your escrow back?

My contract doesn't have any cancellation fees. Or else I would just pay it.
And yes.

File a complaint with the CFPB…they will have to officially give you an explanation as well as the CFPB.
It causes a lot of extra work and headaches for us and we would definitely send you your money!

Have you asked them to show you the fee in writing from the contract? If they can’t show that, it might put your point across a little stronger.

The 3 lawyers I spoke to said they charge 500 for consultation 🥲.

I just left my pre-seed startup that was running out of cash (we made $100,000 in revenue this year, and sunk $1m in costs). I selected new tax regime in the company 'xyz' portal for April 2021-March 2022. I left this company in jan 2022 and tax of 16k got deducted from F&F settlement.

I have investment in EPF and submitted the rent receipts to the company for tax exception for HRA. But in F&F, based on new regime tax deducted.

We are renovating a condo and the previous owner had two Crane toilets (not sure how old, but functioning although seals are old according to our contractor). Back outlet flour mount ones are the only options for the building, and one toilet can cost $300-$500.

We are redoing all the bathroom tiles and walls and debating what we should do with the two toilets. Would resealing the toilets extend the use life? Or should we just replace the toilets? Any other recommendations? TIA!!

Due to a family situation we are looking to move to a different state. Normally we would sell our current home and buy a new home in our new location. However, with todays prices and interest, will it make more sense to rent out our current home and rent a home ourselves vs. selling and buying immediately when we move? From a financial standpoint in this market, which would be a better approach in Austin -

1. Buy a ~8-850k house that meets most of our ideal criteria (size, schools, interiors etc) to stay long term

2. Buy a ~5-550k house that’s not ideal with the plan of moving into an ideal home in 4-5 years when kid is ready for school.

How easy is it to get a mortgage for the second home?

I'm early in my career, managed to save $30K to invest, and want to get my hands dirty with a rental property without too much risk (e.g. no HML/flipping). It sounds like that's a tall order in the NY/CT area given the prices, not to mention whether I'd be able to get a mortgage on anything below $100K, but I figure I'll give it a shot anyway.
