Hi All, My sister has done Computer Science engineering Bachelor degree and has 5 years of work experience in India. She is applying for MBA at https://www.kenan-flagler.unc.edu/programs/mba/full-time-mba/ and https://kelley.iu.edu/programs/full-time-mba/academics/majors-minors/marketing.html. Any Consultants in Chicago, looking to connect?
I am looking to identify committed Christians within Deloitte who would be interested in serving on the US board of a global non-profit committed to restoring the lives of those who have been traumatized via human trafficking or gender-based violence in SE Asia. Deloitte has been instrumental in partnering with Hagar International via pro-bono consulting and we would love to leverage this partnership on our US board.

Tithing is also important because it demonstrates that you are putting your trust in God, not yourself or your money. Do you trust God to take care of you as He has promised? Even more important than tithing, can you find a good Bible based church where you live? It's very hard to be a Christian by yourself.
OP I’m in King County - Message me if you would like help getting connected to a local church. I love my east side church and I know several solid churches around Seattle. Be encouraged that God knows your heart and He is not mad at you.
It’s not the amount but the attitude of tithing / heart posture that the Lord finds pleasing! Tithing isn’t supposed to be comfortable, but totally understand your situation. Try tithing something small at first ($20? $50?), God will be delighted that you recognize your need for Him even amidst financial stress!
I am not in a church currently, but I still tithe to Christian organizations (ex Sponsor 2 kids thru World Vision, prison ministry, etc). If you’re having a cash flow concerns, one thing you can consider is donating stock to a donor advised fund and then using those funds to tithe. My financial planner at Ron Blue turned me on to that. I donate my longest held stock (some of it at $30/share) and then avoid the capital gains while still meeting my tithing commitments. My DAF is at Schwab. Some Christian organizations have their own DAFs, but I preferred having some flexibility.
Would add that giving is meant to be somewhat painful, but also from the heart. Definitely start small and build up. Maybe start by sacrificing small things. In addition, (and this is my personal opinion) but you also don't need to give all to the church, but could give to charities/causes that you believe in
I am not sure I agree that tithing is meant to be painful. The point of tithing is to rely on the Lord and teach you to be generous- it is to open your hand because our natural inclination is to hoard and money is the perfect substitute for God. The tithe is needed by us for us not by God. The OP seems to be in a tough position and our God is a God of grace. I generally feel that the the tithe is over preached - those who can should be tithing more or double tithing to help those who can’t.
OP - no one can answer this for you. You have the Holy spirit inside you. Ask God to guide you and help you hear His voice. I know it is tough sometimes to hear Him but remember that His yoke is gentle and His burden is light. Abide in Him and He will answer you. You are meant to walk in freedom not guilt and burdened.
Are you wanting to tithe now with the hopes that God will give your husband a job?
Thanks - love you all for the encouragement and advice.
Check out Pursuit NW, they just opened up a location in Seattle and have one in Snohomish - really great community
