🐠 need your take on this: I found a perfect role at a company that I previously interned at 3.5 years ago. However my manager and lead analyst at the time really hated me, and I didn’t get a FT offer. The role im looking at now is for a different department but at the same HQ campus as my previous team. I’m currently at a key competitor, and confident I could land an interview. How would you try to successfully get the role? Impossible? Burnt bridge?

Just apply with a strong, succinct cover letter. Chances are they have you in the system and either you’ll get an interview or you’re marked “do not hire” (or equivalent) in the system, in which case it may not matter how awesome you are. Another approach would be if you know or have a relationship with other managers in the company that could help you network back in and plead your awesomeness.

Why did they hate you? What was their rationale for no offer? I think that’ll dictate what happens

Thanks for the response. To be honest the lead analyst looking over me was extremely condescending and mean, and often said my work was trash. I should have had higher EQ back then and instead of not pushing back, I took the immature route and became fairly arrogant myself. I was pretty rude to the lead and also my manager that I felt looked over what was going on. Looking back I shouldn’t have been a dick back to them I guess

I recently had an initial interview for a technical recruiter position. The guy on the phone stated that this is not a 9-5 job and long hours are expected. I proceed to ask how much PTO is offered and he said that is not recommend within the first 6 months of working and the harder you work the more PTO you receive. From that conversation, I saw instant red flags. Any thoughts?

I was a Manager at a Big4 doing PM fed work earlier this year. I decided to join a small firm to pursue cloud sales. However, the position is extremely technical in nature and I'm required to speak tech ( kubernetes, openshift, CICD) to potential clients.
While I have learned from the exposure, I dont intend to continue in a tech role & looking to exit. I'm thinking of Customer/ Partner Success Manager roles with one of the CSPs. Are there other non tech cloud exit opps in industry to consider?
