Generally speaking you will want the camera at eye level. It can look weir if they are looking up at you based on the position of the camera. And like mentioned above, best to have a light above the camera that shines on you.
Do a couple of dry runs with friends to get the setup right.
Had one of these a the other day. I was at home. I was fully dressed but without shoes. It felt weird. So, shoes came on....probably more confidence to feel being on solid footing. LOL. Kidding aside, true story.
Definitely acceptable. Present yourself as you would if the interview was in person. They’d offer you water in person anyway.
Wear pants! Some interviewers ask you to stand up
Signs you will be working for a micromanager honestly. My manager asks that and she’s very petty.
Dress nice like in a real interview. Try to find a plain wall to sit in front of and not in the kitchen/bathroom etc. depending on how dark a room is, I would try to have a lamp or spotlight off camera pointed at you.
Leaves a better impression when they can see you well in a clean room as opposed to looking like you’re Skyping out of a cave.
Test run it with a friend. Set up your laptop on a bunch of books so it’s at your eye level
Keep it above the waist an no need for pants.
