Looking for advice on what types of reports/data are most convincing to senior leadership for keeping staff on who serve internal functions (knowledge managers, intranet, content specialists)- I fear these are the positions which will be lost/replaced by contractors. I’ve interviewed for several Director and VP roles over the last 6 months. I keep getting to the end only to either be ghosted or told the position is “postponed due to budget”. Even my own company wants me to sit a Director role another 24 months before promotion “because of budget”.

Is budget really the reason or am I doing something wrong? How do I finally get that promo? Been regional ops (13 states) for 15mo and Director slotted for 9 now.

I work at a Financial Institution and have recently been approached about a Director role with my prior company. It’s a great opportunity but I have 2 young kids (Preschool/Elementary ages) and I don’t want to sacrifice time with them for career advancement. What’s the best way of encouraging young team members to actually disconnect during their time away? I have some individuals that will not take actual vacations, they say, “I’ll have my laptop and phone”. My response is “please leave your laptop at home and turn off teams and outlook phone notifications. If there is an emergency and we have a question only you can answer, we can call or text. we’ve got this.”

Does anyone work or run a satellite office? I’m in a role where our satellite office has no designated leadership that sits regularly with HQ decisions makers. It’s me and an ECD expected to run the day to day with no visibility into the network. We routinely get agency decisions rolling down to us without guidance on how to implement. I’ve never worked in a satellite office before, what are typical leadership structures and processes for a satellite to be successful?
