Offer gut check please:

Securities & governance role at a fast-growing public tech company. VHCOL market, 4 days/week in office.

Comp: $210k base, no bonus, plus ~$110k in RSUs vesting over 3 years.

4 YOE and this would be my first in-house role. Legal team is very lean, so the role would likely extend beyond traditional securities/governance work. The stock has struggled recently, which may affect the value of the equity upside.

I do think this is in line what you should expect. My wife went in house 2 years after big law as a securities role for a similar public tech/media company. Started at 165k base + 20 bonus + 40in RSUs. Now it’s about 180k base + 25 bonus + 40s in RSUs each year after about 2 years at the company.

VHCOL 3 days in. Lean legal team but she was dying to leave big law.

Based on what I see on LinkedIn, I think pubco in house roles don’t pay as much

like

This is pretty much market for 4YOE and no previous in-house experience

like

I would not take this unless you really need to get out of biglaw.

like

Seems low for pubco securities in VHCOL with 4 days in office. Basically 250k TC yearly. You should be getting a bonus to hit 300k annual TC for that role. But you are at the very junior stage of the YOE, so if you need to escape BL it’s not a hell no.

like

Treat equity as zero and as your entree in house. Aim to jump within two years unless you get promo or a significant equity refresh (which is very unlikely barring promo).

like

They said the stock has struggled recently. So I assumed saas company affected existentially by ai. If not disregard my advice.

It’s not the best but it’s definitely not bad. If you like the team and think you’ll learn a lot, it’s worth taking if the hours aren’t crazy. If you are working more than 40 hour weeks, I’d hesitate.

like

Too low. No bonus is crazy. Get to $250k base plus equity or walk away. Even if you took it, I’d encourage you to leave within a 1-2 and in doing so you’d probably see a total comp increase of 50%, that’s how bad this is.

There’s no bonus. None. Zip. Base has to make up for it or bounce.

like

It’s low for VHCOL and SEC work. No bonus is crazy. Could be worth it if you’re desperate to get out and willing to make a fast follow move within 1-2 years though.

I just got a job offer for an Entry Level Software Engineer at Boeing in Saint Louis. The salary is $82,000 with an $8,000 sign on bonus. I was hoping for an offer closer to 90k base and I don’t care too much for a sign on bonus. However, this is a lot more than what I’m making now, and would be my first SWE job. Should I counter? If so, how would I go about doing that? Thanks!

I submitted my resume in Accenture portal 3 months back and now I got shortlisted for interview.

My yoe is 3.6, but the interview is scheduled role "Application lead project". Is this normal?

Are there any chances they might reject me as the interview is for lead role while my YOE fall in senior analyst / analyst role.

Thanks,

After you moved in-house, how did you get more comfortable reviewing contracts or counseling on issues you weren’t super familiar with? I was very specialized at my law firm and took a similarly specialized role in-house….but I still get requests to mark-up types of agreements that I never touched at my firm. I’ve been trying to find CLEs to get up to speed, but I’m wondering if this is generally something that gets more comfortable with time…
