Hi Everyone! Thank you all for joining! Please message ideas if we have a second call. I know Zoom can be hard.

Hi Dance Teachers! What have been your favorite “get to know you activities” over zoom on the first few days of school?
The partner I work for just messaged me on skype at 11:00pm 20 minutes after sending an email telling me to send an email telling me to send an email. (That sentence is 100% grammatically correct.)
What is the true reason that people want to work fully remote? I understand saving time/money on commute and still being able to get the work done at home but I’m not getting why some just absolutely DONT want to go to the office at all. Genuinely curious. (FYI I work a hybrid schedule)
Attention Microsoft - Teams call quality is fine. It’s the terrible performance and lag! Can I get a rating prompt for that?
I work in an old school company that does not allow anyone to work remote except for management if necessary. Ever since the pandemic started, it’s been a regular day reporting to work and sitting in the office all day. Due to Covid, we decided it’s best to not meet in person but stay in our desk and talk via Teams/zoom. I am now struggling on finding a remote job because I don’t have any remote work experience. Any tips on how to get a remote job in HR?
Are marketing agencies really required to have their employees come into the office? We all work using computers and sharing our files in the cloud, the only time we see each other is for meetings, which can absolutely be done through Zoom. How is your job handling this atm?
Account Person: "I miss in-person meetings. They're too short on Zoom."
Me: (clicks mute)
Is it justifiable to ask for a raise after 7-months? Especially if you’re the only designer on some of their biggest clients, carrying slack from seniors + producing quality work in no time?

I have not been on a project for over 3 months. Since I joined, I have been put in training. The training got extended by a month and now it's close to 4 months since I joined and without a project.
What should I do? People say that I'm lucky to get paid without doing any work, but it is stressing me out. I need the experience. The uncertainty is freaking me out, with rumours of layoffs and the certification program and all.
How do I get into a project? How long do I have to wait more?
Who here has a standing desk? Worth it?

I recently started my first post-college job as a software developer and have to make a decision pretty soon: front-end development or back-end development. I really like being closer to the user and the creativity as far as front-end. But I also reallly really enjoy math and logic and the more complex side to back-end. My dream would be to do full stack but thats not an option. Scared of getting pigeon holed. Any suggestions as to what to do / tips?
Anyone done a certification like Cornell’s Data Analytics Certificate? Curious if it’s worth the price.

Got an offer at Deloitte. It came in a little low and there’s no room for negotiation unfortunately. I was told promotions happen often. Is this the case? If so, what percentage are typical promotional raises?

Is anyone willing to chat with me and share insight into how they got into Spotify or Pinterest as a generalist? I have worn a ton of hats over the years (10YOE). I'll likely have to downgrade in title as my title is for a smaller company and non-tech.
My background is primarily mission-focused brand side, but I do have some pharma agency and freelance experience.

I’m a junior product designer with 1.5 years of experience currently applying for new jobs. I’m entering the negotiation phase of the hiring process and wanted to get an idea of what a reasonable salary would be for a Associate/Intermediate product designer based in Vancouver?
Not sure if anyone else is going through this, but I'm feeling a little burned out. I don't know what it is, but I'm thinking it's time to do something new creatively.

Gusto I’m a product designer hoping to switch industries from the public sector to private. I am struggling because I’m starting to see a lot of pushback on the fact that I don’t have industry specific work. So I’m really curious how much working in a specific industry effects your career path.
I’m looking at some fintech jobs but ultimately want to work in hrtech? Like gusto, lattice, etc. would that potentially prevent that switch?
As a designer which company would you choose, Turner Duckworth or VMLY&R (Design Team) 👀
