I'd rather not offer the highest of deductible plans if financially possible and the HSA is a great investment for a healthy early thirties.
If you don’t have medical issues and need to see doctors a lot go for the high deductible and hsa. And max out the hsa. If you can avoid using the hsa and let it grow you can eventually start invest that money and have a good chunk of money to use for medical when you retire.
Excellent advice here.
What’s your savings rate? Are you eligible for deductible IRA or mega back door IRA? You can calculate this decision for yourself.
Estimate how much you would spend out of pocket in a year on HD health plan, and compare it to the present value of tax savings you would get from the amount you would put in an HSA instead of a different retirement vehicle
Well you're young and healthy so HDHP is a good option because you're less likely to have a big medical expense and if you do have a big medical expense you can use the money in your HSA to help pay for it.
Addendum - I wear glasses. Is eyecare insurance a scam? Adding up the monthly costs amount to much higher than the price of one pair of lenses and expensive frames per year. The coverage for eye exams is the only real benefit.
