Won't impact 5/24 but you can't get the bonus again for a few years if you reapply. This is very common for churners so be aware of your previous SUB date (not opening date) and 48 months following that. Chase doesn't really do retention offers ever, outside of some data points during the height of covid.
I would NOT downgrade to a Freedom Unlimited or Flex. Get those 2 cards through separate applications so you can get the SUBs. Ask to downgrade to a "Chase Freedom Visa," which is the discontinued Freedom card with no annual fee (can still product change to it). You can own multiple of the OG Freedom card.
Downgrade to Freedom unlimited. Unlikely to get retention.
5/24 won’t affect you much but the 48m rule will. For the next 3 years you won’t be able to get any Sapphire (preferred or reserve) bonus
You can downgrade whenever. After 4 years you just can apply to a sapphire again - don’t upgrade because upgrades don’t receive bonus
If you don't want to pay the annual fee for your CSR card, but still want to maintain your relationship with Chase, you can consider downgrading your CSR card to another Chase card with no annual fee or low annual fee. This avoids paying the high annual fees for CSR cards while still enjoying Chase's services and benefits.
