Need WAY more information. Level of education? Sector/industry?
For a “general” university grad with a few years of experience (basically one of our senior associates) you’re probably looking somewhere 70-80k.
Just looking for opinions based on age and location, regardless of everything else, where do most people think others should be at least at this age
If in higher earning industry like consulting at PWC maybe I would say $120k. If in another type of service at PWC maybe like $70K-85K.
This is not fact based, just my opinion based on salaries I’ve seen
PwC2 - we have reasonably rigid bands so you should never worry about that level of disparity. You seem about right for fresh grad.
If you want to cry, talk to the audit grads…
Comparison is the thief of joy..
Would u be
1) miserable and 24/7 angry at a 110k salary
2) super happy and energetic and well valued at 80-90k
This is true. But comparison is basically the point of this app at the same time
For a general answer and a good starting point - look to Ontario provincial salaries. You emphasized that you were male so look to male dominated provincial publicly available salaries such as Hydro, Police etc as opposed to female dominated such as teachers, nurses etc. You also emphasized age 25 - which using male dominated provincial salaries will be undoubtedly higher because of the education required for female dominated professions - teachers require about 5 years of university, nurses about 4 compared to Hydro workers, Police/Fire that require a high school diploma and a short 6 months of training. So as a male at 25 you are gaining 4 years head start over female dominated professions. As an example a teacher at 25 is about 2-3 years into their profession making about $53k-$73k according to Toronto district school board (depending on their category A1-A4) whereas a police officer in Toronto would have a 4 year head start in the workforce and a Constable level would be making about $110k. So males at 25 in Toronto $110k is a reasonable salary.
Just a quick add to this - in my comparison I forgot to mention that because you are male (25) you get the added benefit of avoiding the ‘motherhood penalty’. So not only were the professions above showing about a 4 year advantage between male/female dominated jobs but the motherhood penalty (of giving birth) means that around your age a female would be held back another year (to bring a child into the world) and the disparity of income widens.
