Ageism laid bare. This is the sad reality of the business. Agency leaders who linger into their 60s, who have completely dismissed the value of their contemporaries to keep themselves afloat. Shame on you Mark Read.

Take the first 10-15 years off your resume and drop your year of graduation. Remain flexible
I can definitely empathize with you, but you should feel good that you’ve got at least two good things going for you, which is more than some people. Your resume is getting you interviews, and you’re great at what you do!
It’s hard to prove age discrimination, but you can feel it. Culture of agencies these days is to hire young so that it gives the agency the face of a forward-thinking company. It also saves them money. Good, solid experience isn’t valued as it used to be. So to get a job, you really have to rise to the challenge of showing why they should hire you with your great experience vs. someone 20+ years younger than you. Best of luck to you!
Feel your pain.
It's not but hang in there. Just went client side at 59 and though I feel respected I am certainly dodging my age. You will win this.
I hope you break through. 55 seems to be the magic number... if you are not in the C-Suite by 55, then brace for the long game. I may be looking at a wholesale career change.
Sorry to hear that, and wishing you success in your search!
I am also looking, but trying to find something in another industry, plus I am 50. It is taking some time for sure.
I totally understand. I have been job hunting for most of this year and I get interviews but nothing past that.
Ghosted eh? Damn shame and very disrespectful. Folks seem not to fear karma or like having integrity, smh.
If you haven’t already, find a career/executive coach with expertise in helping mature professionals navigate this. If you’re getting in the door but no further, there might be things you could do to change your conversion rate. Since we (hopefully) don’t do this often, the self-analysis required to lead an effective job search can sometimes benefit from objective assistance. Good luck. It’s difficult out there if you can actually deliver the goods because of experience but that comes with a big price tag. For some companies it’s much easier to believe they can get the same from someone with half the experience and at 2/3 the cost.
Seems like low-key perversion if they’re only after younger folks. Older folks teach the younger ones, smh. 😔
