Hi all,
Do firms match offers from other Big 4s for campus hires? I’ve received a campus offer from both KPMG and EY. I’m more interested in the EY offer, but they are paying 3k less than KPMG.
Would it be a bad move to let them know about the other offer and try negotiating? I feel it wont make a difference in the long run, but at the same time I don’t want to leave any money on the table if possible.
Thanks!

It’s not a requirement. Look the A teams at the Big4 are unmatched. Some of the smartest people there are but they are a small minority.
Their B teams and below are not impressive. When I was still in public and had big4 review the tax provisions we prepared for our clients, you wouldn’t believe the dumb questions they’d ask or the things they messed up before we came in there and fixed it.
Granted you’ll still work some rough hours at a smaller firm.

It probably is worth it but you definitely don’t have to work for a big 4 company. It might give you a slight edge in the future but it’s not the be all and end all
