1 year doesn’t seem long enough to figure out the long term prospects. See how you go sticking it out a little longer before deciding anything rash. Plus anything under 2 yrs (my opinion only) looks pretty weak on a cv.

Thank you—I’ll keep doing my best as things stand...
For the time being, just work at doing the best you can in the role you have. Since you are in your first year, the firm is going to have a lot more say in the direction you go in terms of projects and team assignments. That is just part of the post-college working world for the majority of people out there. If you hit the end of year 2 or 3 and decide you’re miserable, then maybe you can look around at what should be next. Before you go back and get a doctorate level degree, make sure that you are going to get a proper return on investment OR you really want to go into academia over anything. With the bachelors and masters in hand, you shouldn’t have too hard of a time finding a new place to work if it comes to that either. And at the end of the day, your career isn’t a race. If you find the role you want to fill forever next year, then that’s great. But if it takes 5 job changes and/or another 5 years in school, that’s ok too. If you’re working, your nest egg is just building along the whole way. Keep managing your money properly and that should not really be an issue. Good luck!

Thank you for this—it is a patient game.
Have you figured out your long term goals? MD/PHD/MBA are all very different paths, and if you are pursuing them all that is a large loan to pay off

MD honestly feels like it allows me to look into several fields I am interested in with opportunities to practice, perform research, teach, or transition to industry if I wanted at some point. However—I respect it is a big leap that I need to be as close to 100% on as possible...
Sorry to hear about your troubles, Madison. Maybe find some meaning in that deck that is due tomorrow.
