People who are long FAANG, do any of the government lawsuits coming worry you(antitrust/monopoly, content, etc) as a long term shareholder? I figure most of these tech companies may get a slap on the wrist but understand the risks. Heck, most of these senators are invested in these companies and are they really going to break up companies like Amazon & Facebook? Seems like they would establish an extremely dangerous precedent

Long fb forever. Def not worried at all. It’s a slap on the wrist. Politicians don’t get tech and it’s funny to watch. That being said, these companies may take a dip next week in fear. Just a time to buy some more. Senators are all puppets who are run by people with deep pocketsn

FB should be broken up for the sake of humanity. They've caused more damage than any other tech company in memory

Very hard to forecast since the politics is shifting at the moment.

Any legislation or law suit will take a while to play out. And breakups often unlock value as they allow for more focus and more transparent valuations.

Wouldn’t trade them based on suspicions.

Recent events at the Capitol and a Dem Majority will probably lead to some impactful regulation, but a true antitrust response (standard oil-esque) is unlikely given the preapproval for all the past M&A activity. FB is probably the most at-risk with the Zuck emails showing their competition-dampening intentions with Instagram and WhatsApp.

You could argue they’ve sustained high growth in recent years bc they use their market position to identify rising competitors and either buy or copy them. They are practically begging for regulation, especially after Trump’s insurrection attempt, bc they’re the biggest players and will shape it and can afford to deal with it. When MSFT settled on 11/1/01, the stock was $32.10 and it drifted around $28-37 for years until it bottomed out in the GFC at $17. Those years of drift had a lot of mediocre products bc they lost their innovation when they got so big and complacent. It’s now at 2020, about 10-11%, not bad. They’ll all survive. And it will help spawn the next innovation we can all buy for big growth. Their bigger issue is they’re all so overvalued right now.
